Gaza: Beyond the Numbers, A Cry for Solidarity

The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip has reached a harrowing milestone, with the enclave’s health ministry reporting over 70,000 confirmed deaths from the Zionist offensive. Since Thursday, 301 more lives were added to the toll, with many identified from remains previously buried under rubble – a grim testament to the ongoing devastation. While the Zionist military has consistently denied targeting civilians and questioned these figures, accusing Hamas of exaggeration, Gaza’s health authorities maintain their careful collection methods, which include forensic and medical checks. Public health experts and the UN often cite these figures as credible, noting Gaza’s pre-war robust health information systems.

Beyond the devastating statistics, a strong call for justice and accountability echoed on the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. Palestinian ministries, including Foreign Affairs and Women’s Affairs, along with prisoner advocacy groups, urged global action to end what they describe as an “international exception” for Zionist actions. They stressed that solidarity must translate into concrete steps: holding perpetrators accountable, ending the occupation, protecting women and children, imposing an arms embargo, and releasing prisoners.

The General Union of Palestinian Women highlighted the struggle for national liberation amidst unprecedented loss and displacement, calling for an immediate end to the war, humanitarian aid, international inquiry commissions, and recognition of a Palestinian state.

Echoing these sentiments, Kuwait reaffirmed its unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, advocating for an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The international community is increasingly urged to take a decisive stance, halt violations, and protect the Palestinian people, their land, and holy sites.
