Recent images from the Oval Office have sparked fresh conversations about former President Donald Trump’s health. Photos taken recently showed thinning white hair revealing his pink scalp, along with plasters on the back of his right hand. Even more notable, during a lengthy 90-minute cabinet meeting, Mr. Trump was reportedly seen with drooping eyes, appearing to struggle to stay alert. These observations have naturally led to renewed speculation, especially given that the former President will turn 80 next June.
Unsurprisingly, Mr. Trump has been quick to dismiss these concerns. He vehemently criticized a recent New York Times article questioning his stamina, asserting in the third person, “Trump is sharp.” He also used the cabinet meeting as a platform to air grievances and assure reporters of his excellent condition, telling them, “You people are crazy. I’ll let you know if there’s something wrong.”
However, the White House has offered official explanations. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt previously addressed speculation, attributing hand bruising to a chronic vein condition, “tissue damage” from frequent handshaking, and aspirin use. Furthermore, White House physician Dr. Sean Barbabella confirmed Mr. Trump was in “excellent health” last summer. A recent note from Dr. Barbabella, reported by ABC News, stated that a cardiac scan found no heart abnormalities or arterial narrowing, concluding, “Everything evaluated is functioning within normal limits.” While Mr. Trump mentioned an MRI in October, the doctor’s assessment did not specifically use that term.
