A profound tragedy has shaken the Tikri Kalan community in Delhi, as Vineet (31) and Renu (29), a young couple who ran a local grocery store, tragically lost their lives in a devastating fire. Originally from Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, the couple were a familiar and integral part of their neighborhood.
The harrowing incident unfolded on Friday when concerned neighbors alerted authorities to thick smoke and flames erupting from the store. Police swiftly arrived at the scene, finding the shop’s metal shutter partially lowered and the interior consumed by dense smoke.
Investigations suggest the blaze likely started from a short circuit near the counter, rapidly igniting plastic goods and other items. As the fire intensified and smoke filled the confined space, a cruel twist of fate trapped Vineet and Renu inside. An electric current was reportedly passing through the shutter, preventing their escape. Despite their desperate attempts to pull it open, they were tragically overcome by suffocation.
Police personnel, using a wooden log, managed to force open the shutter and rescue the couple. They were immediately rushed to Oscar Hospital in Bahadurgarh, but sadly, doctors pronounced them dead. The community is grieving the untimely loss of Vineet and Renu. Authorities, including the crime team and fire brigade, are continuing their investigation into the exact circumstances of this heartbreaking incident.
