Venezuela Warns US as Caribbean Tensions Escalate

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro isn’t holding back! In a fiery speech in Caracas, he directly challenged the United States, demanding an end to what he calls “illegal, tough interference” in Venezuela and Latin America. Maduro stressed that his nation belongs to its “noble, sovereign, and courageous people” and will never be a colony. He made it clear that Venezuela’s rich resources won’t be plundered by any empire, warning that citizens are ready to take up arms, missiles, and tanks to defend their country from aggression. Maduro believes the US is eyeing Venezuela’s vast oil reserves and poses the most serious threat in a century.

Meanwhile, Washington has a very different story. The US accuses Caracas of failing to combat drug smuggling effectively. Under this pretext, a powerful US strike group, featuring the aircraft carrier Gerald R. Ford and over 16,000 troops, has been deployed to the Caribbean. Since September, US operations have reportedly destroyed 20 boats and “eliminated” more than 80 individuals allegedly involved in drug trafficking from Venezuela.

US media has been buzzing with reports of a potential strike against Venezuela. Former President Trump (referencing statements from Nov 27 and Dec 10) even confirmed that the US military plans to strike ground targets in Latin America to combat drug cartels. This escalating rhetoric, combined with the significant military presence, paints a picture of growing instability in the region. The world watches to see how these dangerous tensions will unfold.
