Trump’s Christmas: A Holiday of Power and Provocation

Christmas 2025 under former President Donald Trump certainly broke from tradition. Far from a peaceful holiday, the season saw a striking blend of military action abroad and sharp political rhetoric at home, painting a vision of power rooted more in grievance than goodwill.

In the days leading up to Christmas, Trump announced airstrikes against jihadists in Nigeria, strikingly calling the operation a “Christmas present.” He claimed to have personally delayed the action until December 25th to surprise militants, retaliating for what he described as a “slaughter of Christians” in the West African nation.

Meanwhile, his online presence was anything but festive. Trump flooded his Truth Social feed with caustic messages for his political rivals, branding them “radical leftist scum.” He even issued a cryptic warning: “Enjoy what may be your last Merry Christmas,” a statement hinting at impending disclosures related to sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

This confrontational approach stood in stark contrast to the White House’s official Christmas message, a traditional, scripture-heavy statement invoking God’s love and peace. While Trump himself skipped formal worship, his administration and allies, like Vice-President J.D. Vance, heavily emphasized Christian faith in public policy, with Vance championing a “true Christian politics.”

Trump’s personal connection to faith also made headlines, from selling “God Bless The USA” Bibles to suggesting that brokering peace in Ukraine might aid his path to heaven. This unique blend of political strategy, military might, and a very personal interpretation of faith made for a truly unconventional Christmas season.
