Did Roland Watson Just Capture the Best Loch Ness Monster Photos EVER?

Prepare to have your imagination sparked! Roland Watson, a 63-year-old software engineer from Edinburgh, claims his trail camera has caught extraordinary images of the legendary Loch Ness Monster. For years, Roland has nurtured a childhood fascination with Nessie, even running a blog dedicated to the elusive creature for over 15 years. His dedication paid off when his camera, strategically placed on Loch Ness’s western shore since May, snapped something truly intriguing on June 26, 2025.

The camera, which takes three consecutive photos every seven minutes, captured three shots within seconds of each other that Roland believes show Nessie in motion. What do they reveal? A sizeable, metre-long hump gliding through the water, accompanied by a distinct white streak just in front of it. Roland is convinced this isn’t just a trick of the light or a passing animal. “I can’t think of any other explanation for this,” he states. “It’s the best image I’ve ever seen of Nessie.”

While theories about Nessie range from prehistoric plesiosaurs to spirits, Roland’s more grounded belief leans towards a colossal, rare fish. “If it was anything Jurassic Park, we’d know because it would be eating everybody!” he quipped, suggesting the creature “lies low.” This exciting new evidence comes at an interesting time, as legendary Nessie hunter Adrian Shine, 76, recently announced he no longer believes in the monster’s existence. Could Roland’s photos reignite the decades-old mystery? Only time, and perhaps more trail cameras, will tell!
