Panchkula is in mourning following the tragic death of a respected retired Army officer, Lieutenant General Kulwant Singh Mann, who was struck by an unidentified vehicle while out for an evening walk. The incident, which occurred last Friday evening, has sparked a police investigation as authorities work to piece together what happened and bring the responsible driver to justice.
Lieutenant General Mann, aged around 85, was enjoying a walk near his home when the unthinkable occurred. He was hit by a vehicle that fled the scene, leaving the veteran gravely injured. Rushed to the Army’s Command Hospital in Chandimandir, he bravely fought for his life but ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The local police, led by the Mansa Devi Complex (MDC) and ACP Dinesh Kumar, have registered a case and are actively pursuing leads. The challenge, however, is that the specific stretch of road where the accident took place lacks CCTV cameras. This has prompted officers to meticulously examine footage from surrounding areas, hoping to catch a glimpse of the vehicle or any crucial information that could lead them to the driver.
In a poignant turn, the post-mortem examination is being deferred until one of General Mann’s sons returns from abroad, allowing the family to be together during this difficult time. The community awaits answers and hopes the ongoing investigations will quickly identify the vehicle and driver responsible for this heartbreaking loss.
