Thousands recently gathered across France, from Paris to Lyon, lending their voices to a powerful cry for freedom emanating from Iran. These rallies weren’t just about solidarity; they were a direct echo of the brave “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement currently sweeping through Iran, demanding an end to theocratic rule.
The current wave of protests in Iran is the largest since the 2022-2023 movement, which ignited after the tragic death of Mahsa Amini, an Iranian Kurdish woman arrested for allegedly violating strict dress codes. Her death sparked outrage and a profound desire for change among Iranians, who continue to risk everything to challenge the regime.
The stakes are incredibly high. Protesters face severe repression, including widespread internet blackouts designed to silence their voices and cover up the violent crackdown. Rights groups report thousands of lives lost, with estimates of the actual death toll potentially far higher. Despite the immense danger – the “repression, the torture, the fear, the upcoming executions” – the spirit of resistance remains unbroken.
In France, marchers chanted slogans like “Woman, Life, Freedom” and “Death to Khamenei,” holding portraits of those who have fallen. “This is it, people will be free. Maybe not now, but the time will come,” shared one hopeful protester named Galia. Another, Amir, an Iranian student, declared, “The fall of the regime is unavoidable, we can’t live like this. Repression can’t prevail, eventually freedom will win.”
Their message is clear: the call for freedom in Iran is resolute, and the world is watching, amplifying their courageous stand.
