Driving Dreams: The Scottish Museum with a Million-Dollar Movie Car Collection

Ever dreamt of getting up close with the actual vehicles from your favorite films? In Bo’ness, Scotland, Colin Anderson is living that dream – and sharing it with the world! For 21 years, his privately-owned Bo’ness Motor Museum has housed an incredible collection of about 40 cars, reportedly worth millions. Colin estimates the entire collection could fetch a “couple of million” at auction – a testament to its unique appeal.

Step inside, and you’ll find movie magic around every corner. Imagine the famous flying car, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, complete with its unique working wings (an MGM-authorized replica, not from the film itself, but stunning nonetheless!). You can also spot the Ford Anglia that whisked Harry Potter around in interior shots, and the trusty van from the classic comedy, Only Fools And Horses.

But for Colin, the undeniable star of the show is his white Lotus Esprit from the 1977 James Bond film, *The Spy Who Loved Me*. This iconic vehicle sparked his passion for collecting Bond memorabilia, which now includes various props and even an Aston Martin linked to Daniel Craig photoshoots. With 10,000 visitors annually, the museum is a magnet for fans, especially Harry Potter enthusiasts touring Scotland.

Colin, a former antiques dealer, stumbled into this unique venture after changing business plans. His love for classic cars, combined with industry connections through his actor sons, led him down this exciting road. He cherishes the stories behind each vehicle, many of which are fully restored and roadworthy. From a rocket launcher to a bizarre Japanese Buddhist hearse featuring a model of Gollum, every item has a tale that adds to the museum’s eclectic charm.

This isn’t just a collection; it’s a vibrant testament to one man’s passion for film history and classic automobiles, bringing a captivating slice of Hollywood right to a Scottish town.
