Football for Peace: A Game-Changing Partnership for Gaza

Imagine the power of football to rebuild lives and communities. That’s exactly what FIFA and the newly formed Board of Peace aim to achieve with their exciting new partnership. Their goal? To attract global investment to support sustainable development in conflict-affected areas, starting with a significant focus on Gaza.

This isn’t just talk; concrete plans are in motion. The agreement includes building 50 mini-pitches near schools, five full-size pitches, a state-of-the-art FIFA Academy, and even a new 20,000-seat national stadium in Gaza. Beyond the impressive infrastructure, US$75 million is being raised specifically for these vital football projects.

But the vision goes much further than just sports facilities. This program is designed to create thousands of job opportunities, actively engage youth of all genders in football leagues, foster stronger community participation, and boost local businesses. FIFA President Gianni Infantino stresses that this partnership, led by FIFA with the Board of Peace’s support, is set to make a real impact at every stage.

The Board of Peace, established by former US President Donald Trump, has already secured substantial international backing. Major nations like the US, Japan, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, UAE, Morocco, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Uzbekistan, and Kuwait have pledged over $17 billion combined towards reconstruction and stability efforts, including a significant portion for this football initiative. This widespread support highlights the global commitment to investing in peace and development through meaningful projects.

This initiative truly shows how the universal language of football can bridge divides and offer a path to hope, stability, and growth for communities in need.
