Qatar Calls Out Iran: “Stop Attacks on Our Region!”

Tensions are skyrocketing in the Middle East, and a recent phone call between top officials in Qatar and Iran has shed more light on the volatile situation. Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani directly confronted Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Wednesday, demanding an immediate halt to Iranian attacks on regional nations.

Iran’s narrative was simple: their recent missile strikes were aimed squarely at American interests, not at Gulf states. However, Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed wasn’t buying it. He “categorically rejected” this assertion, pointing to concrete evidence. Civilian and residential areas within Qatar itself, including the vicinity of Hamad International Airport, vital infrastructure, and critical liquefied natural gas (LNG) production facilities, were directly hit. He also highlighted that these weren’t just missile attacks; drone strikes and airspace violations were part of the aggressive actions.

The Qatari leader minced no words, stating that Iran’s actions clearly show an “escalatory approach” and no genuine desire for peace. He accused Tehran of “seeking to harm its neighbors and draw them into a war that is not theirs.”

This urgent diplomatic exchange comes amidst a broader regional conflict. A large-scale attack by Israel and the US on Iran, which reportedly killed key figures like Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, has sparked fierce retaliation from Tehran. Iran has responded with drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, as well as Gulf countries that host US military assets.

Qatar is urging all sides to immediately halt attacks on states that have tried to remain neutral and to prioritize the broader interests of their people for regional stability. The message is clear: the spillover effect of this conflict is real, and innocent nations are paying the price.
