A man accused of a series of alarming knife attacks across Cambridgeshire and London, including a high-profile incident on a train, is now set to face a major trial in mid-2026. Anthony Williams, 32, is at the centre of a complex legal case involving multiple alleged assaults over just two days.
The most prominent accusation stems from an LNER train journey from Doncaster to London on November 1. Williams faces 10 counts of attempted murder after several passengers were stabbed. Thankfully, all eleven people who received hospital treatment survived, and authorities quickly ruled out terrorism, clarifying the incident was not politically motivated.
But the accusations don’t stop there. Williams is also charged in connection with an attack at Pontoon Dock DLR station in London earlier that same day, where another victim suffered facial injuries. Additionally, he faces multiple attempted murder charges related to incidents in Peterborough on October 31, involving a 14-year-old boy and a 22-year-old man. Further charges include assault on a police officer, theft of knives from an Asda store, and various counts of possessing a bladed article in public places. In total, he faces a staggering 21 serious charges.
During a recent court hearing held today (December 1), Williams was notably absent, reportedly refusing to join the proceedings via video link from custody. He continues to be held ahead of his next appearance. Judge Mark Bishop has scheduled a further hearing for January 28, 2025, at Cambridge Crown Court, with the provisional trial date now set for June 22, 2026. This lengthy timeline underscores the gravity and complexity of the charges as the legal process unfolds for these alleged widespread attacks.
