Lando Norris has officially been crowned the F1 2025 World Champion! The 26-year-old Brit secured his first-ever world title by finishing third at the thrilling Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, capping off an extraordinary season for both him and McLaren, who had already clinched the Constructors’ Championship earlier in the year.
The championship fight was a nail-biting affair, coming down to the very last race. Norris entered Abu Dhabi needing just a podium finish, but the path to glory was anything but smooth. Starting P2, he quickly found himself battling intense pressure, especially from Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc. Every position was critical, as dropping too low would hand the title to rival Max Verstappen, who dominated the race.
Norris displayed incredible resilience, navigating traffic and even executing a brilliant double overtake after an early pit stop. The tension heightened when Red Bull’s Yuki Tsunoda received a five-second penalty for dangerous weaving while attempting to hold Norris back – a move McLaren CEO Zak Brown condemned as “dangerous and unnecessary.”
McLaren’s pit crew rose to the occasion, delivering exceptional stops that were crucial for Norris to maintain his position. Despite Leclerc closing the gap at one point, Norris held his nerve, driving masterfully to secure the vital third place.
As he crossed the finish line, relief and elation washed over him. Tears flowed as he thanked his team and family, the culmination of years of dedication and support. Finishing just two points ahead of Verstappen, Lando Norris has etched his name into Formula 1 history, delivering a championship victory that will undoubtedly be celebrated for years to come!
