Egypt and Saudi Arabia are deepening their already strong fraternal and historical ties, a bond crucial for regional stability. This was clear during a recent telephone call between Egypt’s Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and Saudi Arabia’s Prince Faisal bin Farhan. This dialogue is part of continuous efforts to coordinate and consult on vital issues facing the region.
Minister Abdelatty emphasized the importance of building on this positive momentum. Plans are underway for the first meeting of the Egyptian-Saudi Supreme Coordination Council. This council is set to elevate their strategic partnership, reflecting a shared political will to strengthen Arab interests and ensure peace across the region.
The discussion also tackled pressing regional matters, including developments in the Gaza Strip. Both ministers stressed the urgency of maintaining the ceasefire and ensuring a sustainable peace. Egypt called for a temporary international stabilization force to protect civilians, enable Palestinian authorities, and guarantee unimpeded humanitarian aid. The goal is to pave the way for early recovery and reconstruction in the area.
Beyond Gaza, the ministers also focused on Sudan. They reiterated the importance of ongoing coordination to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire. Egypt highlighted the critical need for safe havens and humanitarian corridors to deliver aid to those affected. Egypt also firmly reaffirmed its unwavering support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and stability, advocating for the preservation of its national institutions.
The call concluded with a mutual commitment to continue close coordination. This ongoing dialogue is vital for supporting regional stability and strengthening joint Arab action in the face of today’s complex challenges.
